At the beginning of the year 2000, I was on my way to visit my embroidery factory in Jamaica, Queens, New York. I was driving down the street when I saw a banner for "World Clash" that featured an Asian ensemble. I couldn't help but pull over and circle around to get a better look.
Fast-forward !!! In the year 2022, Masta Saimon @mastasimon from "Mighty Crown" is giving me a Shout Out. To have an #Asian brother like him is a privilege for me.
In addition to that, I owe a thank you to my brother Julian @nrl_julian . There is almost always a hero behind the scenes.
"Mighty Crown" is an internationally renowned Reggae sound system from Yokohama Japan, active in the United States, the Caribbean, Europe and more. They have a lot of experience and a high level of knowledge, which makes them popular, and their movement always has a great influence on the scene. Their performance has a unique message and skill that draws admirers from all over the globe, as well as Japanese fans. As a result of their skill, ability, passion, and dedication to reggae music, Mighty Crown has become a major player in the music world.
The Yokohama, Japan-based founders of Mighty Crown in 1991. The Japanese band Mighty Crown rose to prominence over the course of many years by performing in clubs and distributing self-produced mix tapes all throughout Japan. With their sound system (movable speaker boxes) in 1994, they began clashing with other Japanese sound systems and quickly became Japan's sound clash champion (1998). As a result, the dancehall scene in Japan has been inspired and led by them ever since.
Since the beginning of their music career, Masta Simon and Sami-T @samicrown_lens , along with the rest of Mighty Crown, have had one overarching goal: to take their sound international. When they first arrived in the United States in the early 1990s, they spent a lot of time hanging out in Brooklyn, NY's record stores and studios where they learnt the vocabulary and rhythms of Jamaican dancehall music. They began performing in Brooklyn and Manhattan bars in 1992 and finally made it to the World Clash '99 festival in Brooklyn, New York, where they performed for the first time. World Clash 99 saw them vanquish sounds from Jamaica as well as the United States, making them the first Japanese group to win the World Clash championship. Since then, they've performed in major cities in the United States, the Caribbean, and Europe (New York, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, Washington DC, Virginia, Connecticut, New Jersey, and etc.). By joining forces with Irish & Chin, Mighty Crown expanded its international reach beginning in the year 2000.
In total, Mighty Crown won 8 World Titles for 11 times and became the undisputed champion of Sound Clash.
Lastly, Mighty Crown will celebrate its 30-year career and they will host their final show on a cruise ship. Tickets are available at
